You can't spell enamored without amore.
Recently the word enamored became a word I understood. This token word never really tasted right in any context. It never felt like the texture I was seeking to enliven a thought, feeling, or sensation. Then as I began to delve deeper into my body, mind, and spirit to understand truly what I know love to be I realized.
Love is
1. Recognizing oneself in another
2. Being willing to do anything and everything to nurture and protect that being
and
3. Being capable of containing that being
Love also goes both ways in this regards
ie: Love is
1. Letting oneself be recognized as the co-heart of another
2. Being willing to allow another to do anything and everything they are willing and able to do in order to nurture and protect you
and
3. Being capable of containing oneself and therefore being capable of containing another
Lets dive into this "containing/container" concept shall we?
The word enamored contains the word amore, right in the center, just as our heart contains the code that unlocks wisdom. Within the our enormous, vibrant, pulsing, infinite being there is this sound, this vibration that resonates from the deepest well of nutrience that exists.
Om.
When you chant Om in whatever practice you find yourself chanting Om, you might hear the particular resonance of your brand of Om. If you chant in community you might notice how the Om of another is unlike yours. Maybe one holds out much longer, or rises to a peak in the middle.
We must come to know our own Om. This Om is the love in the center of our very own personal experience of self enrapture. When we learn the texture and taste of our own beauty, when we can hold ourselves in our own arms as we would a beautiful newborn babe, then, and only than, can we choose to contain another being. To let them into the home we made inside our heart, for all our many parts.
Self-love is a journey not a destination. Days will come where you don't want to invite a particular part of yourself into your Om home and when you lock them out they will make you pay like hell. And if you are wise enough, if you sit in silence, if you listen to your body, if you practice self-observation, you will be able to see, hear, and feel the signs of a disgruntled self-fracture. And then if you have allowed yourself to be a student enough in your life, if you have practiced healing by arriving for others, if you have faced your fears time and time again, you will know. You will know just how to invite this version of you back into your heart with compassion and ease, you will not shame yourself or them, you will forgive and you will grow.
This growth! Ahhhh this growth, is like that of the heart of the Grinch. This growth cultivated by your fearlessness, your practice, your seeking, your hearing, seeing, and feeling. This growth will make room inside of you! It will make room inside of you where you can invite in the vibration of another in all it's distinctness and glory. And as it begins to fill your own heart, things will overflow and this person whom you have let in, they will be there with their own heart to catch your tide. Your excess will fill the void which is created in them by letting you receive THEIR selves.
A cyclical dance is formed between the hearts of lovers in which wisdom, knowledge, and surrender combine, to become a system for divine water slides.
We swallow, waft, and dance amrita when we allow ourselves to become enamored. We become human when we find our home in our own heart. We can love another when we have cuddled all of our various parts.
So go home my beloved siblings. Fill you lungs with the breath of life. Remember to contain your sorrow, grace, and strife as you would a wounded puppy, or a bird with damaged wing. For when we know our own vibration, we can truly hear the temple bell ring.
Me? I intend to be enamored with EVERY SINGLE THING!
