This story is a short fiction piece I wrote for the first ever AutoCrit writing challenge. This challenge gave me 14 days to write and edit a piece of short fiction that was no more than 5000 words. I used two prompts offered by AutoCrit for this piece, they were,
"They always underestimated our kind"
and
"Smoke drifted on the wind".
I chose to write a fantasy piece of course because this way I can spend time living in the fairy realm. In Subtle Magic we tap into the journals as well as the moment to moment experiences of a young fae man who is struggling to fit into his clan. He is hopeful that the humans and the fae can live together peacefully but his clan is driving him toward war. Read the story to find out his fate.
